A front engined Porsche to be exact, he wants to buy a 968 from a friend from the tennis club. I told him to get a 1975 911 if he really wants one.

He should. I believe the 968 is fairly rare. I've only ever seen a couple.

Apparently it is white and has very subtle Martini stripes. Don't know how I feel about it, I do like it but there must be some other interesting things to consider.

i guess that would be the por sha version. I'd be pretty happy if my father got either of those. I wouldn;t be surprised if an old Charger showed up in the driveway one day.

And I tell you to buy an S8.

Stick? Let him get it - far less dangerous than an early 911.

Haha I will buy, I just need to sell the Citroen first, the steering problem put a hold on that.

Haha, I'll be waiting right here!

You speak crazy. There's nothing wrong with a 968. 3.0L inline-4, 236hp, 2+2 seating, practical hatch, and the fact that they made so few(12,000 or so total, if there are that many left) and coupes are the most sought after and hardest to find(if it is a coupe).
I say hell yes, provided documentation and service history is available. They have as much of an interference engine as the 944, and given the 968 has very difficult to find parts for a good price, you best know when the belts and tensioners have been changed.

Yes, It probably is quite nice, I'm trying to think about cars he might enjoy more. None come to mind. Jaguar V12 is a mess compared to the 3.0 I4.

968s are building steam right now - riding on 911 coat tails. Check out this guy, dailys his 968 and loves it. http://patrickglace.kinja.com/968-problems-a…

The subtle Martini stripes add Jalop value if it's a manual.
